Days Gemstones/Geological Tour
Tsavo national parks has someone the oldest rock in
East Africa and it is rich region with different kinds
of Mineral and some of the them are among the top precious
gemstone. Ruby , most of the rare garnets such as change
color garnets, Malaya garnets, change color garnets
Tsavorites all mined in Southern Tsavo a few kilometers
away from Lake Jipe. So this trip a takes you to 3 day
to the leading mines where you will also meet some of
the local miners selling their wares directly at agreeable
prices.
Day 1 Southern of Tsavo West National Park
Pick from your Voi residence and drive to mines
some of which are owned by Mr. CO. Bridges one of the
best geologist based in Africa and who is the man who
brought green garnets to light of the world. As we drive
to his mine we also visit other local miners under the
escort of armed KWS rangers because we encounter wild
animals while walking since some of the mines are not
accessible by foot, although the road may be a few yards
away.
After spending the entire day while visiting mines that
deal with green garnets and in the evening we drive
to one of the camp to spend the night on camping accommodation.
( Option we can drive back to spend the night in Voi
town).
Day 2 Southern of Tsavo West National Park
Full day visiting mines in Gulanze, Kilibazi
and this day we will be visiting mines that deal with
Ruby , green garnet and other stones. Picnic lunch and
we return back to Kasigau for overnight.
Day 3 Southern of Tsavo West National Park
After the bush break fast we have escorted
walks to a near by mine and we return to drive to Voi
arriving in the evening. For those who wish to do the
buying please make your request so that special arrangement
for appointments with seller to be arranged. You make
your deal in the bush but the payment will be done in
Voi after the owner of the gemstones transport them
to Voi on their own.
Price
Price is quoted in US dollar per person. Price
depends with how many people have
booked on the same day maximum 6 pax per minibus.
2-3 PAX $ 900 P/P.
4-5 PAX $ 680 P/P.
6-7 PAX $ 600 P/P.
What is included in the itnerary is:
-Entry park fees.
-Permission to visit the private mines and appointment
to meet the owners of the mines.
-Appointment to meet the local tribes men sells stones
to you.
-Mineral water.
-Picnic lunch.
-Professional driver/guides.
-Flying Doctors insurance.
-Game drives where applicable
Not included in the itinerary is:
-Walking safaris,
-Medical insurance, beers,
-Theft insurance.
-Transfer to Mombasa/ Nairobi/ Taveta border
